Some people don’t know how to love They fight they push and they shove Their tongues cut like a knife They’ll take over your life Some people don’t know how to love. I feel just like a helpless pawn In a game of chess that’s gone wrong The man is changing the rules Gaslighting to be cruel Some people don’t know how to love. chorus Some people hang on to their possessions Hold onto power its their obsession He told me lies over and over Crushed me like a bull dozer Some people don’t know how to love. Chorus Someday I hope Karma gonna get you God knows I need to forget you Let you squirm with regret Because you left me a mess Some people don’t know how to love. Chorus to end

Chorus: When we first met, seems a lifetime ago you and I were like fresh flowers that almost glow we were both so young, you shone like the sun Darlin you are the one, darlin you are the one. Verse 1: Many years we've spent together and time drifts by like a sigh It hasn't been all easy, Still your love has been my guide. Repeat Chorus. Verse 2: We've weathered bad storms pushed through life's rocky roads Stay with me now, give me a kiss and a promise I can hold. Repeat Chorus. Under a velvet starlit sky Lets sing another song sit by a campfire burning bright we are right where we belong.

The 13th floor is often neglected Shunned, stigmatized, and rejected. Number thirteen, hormones and puberty Bah mitzvah, coming of age, A time of responsibility. Chorus: Luck is just a gamble 13 only a number A bump in the road For fortune hunters Is it unlucky or lucky 13? Verse 2: Number thirteen has connotations Bad luck, misfortune, A cause of nefarious reputation. Perhaps 13 gets a bad rap May be for me I’ll get a lucky 13! Repeat chorus to end.

Paint and paper Brushes and ink Color my way through this day Make each sunset pink I never thought I could spend an amount of hours Putting paint on paper And creating flowers. Perhaps today It’ll be the ocean Paint it furious and raging Or placid glimmering motion Choices are endless I’m in charge finally This paint and paper Gift of lasting revery. Just a doodler Since a toddler My canvas was the walls And books in the cellar. Though it made mom scream It never really stopped me Now I’m a painting on paper Living a dream.

Verse 1: Stranger tides Washing over the earth With islands of plastic Swallowing surf Stranger tides Dolphins breathe a last sigh Swirling waters roar speak a last goodbye Chorus: There’s a ship wreck, the sharks are swarming Tides a pulling wash over a warning Moon watches indifferent and cool While we wander disbelieving like fools. Verse 2: The coral reef The Waters too warm Brittle and bleached Now empty and forlorn. Longing for company Angels and anemone They are ghostly and ghastly Skeletons grieving. Repeat Verse 3: Stranger tides The ocean rising rising Glaciers wealth flows The moon pulls, disguising Low or high Stranger tides Never idle stranger tides. Repeat chorus

Won’t you dance with me We can disbelieve together Just you and me The world can swirl around us And I will trust Nothing will ever change. Verse 2 There’s nothin goin on There’s nothing wrong The weather can be strange And politicians aren’t more deranged It’s just the way it is. There’s no more violence. Chorus: Oh the dance of denial If you close your eyes There’s no troubles Nothin to be worried about. The moves are simple- just close your eyes your ears and your rational thought Don’t use you voice though it’s all you got. Verse 3: Dance slow Turn around and around But don’t let go Of the remote. Quick Scroll through Everyone and everything That don’t agree with you. Repeat chorus to end and deny.

about

In response to the FAWM and RPM challenges (to write a album in the month of Febuary), Diane made up these 11 songs in February 2024. Done on our iPhones, except for Stranger Tides. Listen to the tracks now, often done in one take. We may gussy them up in the studio later, or maybe not.

Fretbenders - Bob & Diane Kordas New Hampshire

The Fretbenders is our pandemic project that turned into a recording project, that turned into our band. We recorded 12 of Diane's originals, added 12 guest backing musicians and came up with our Long Overdue album.
We also have some tracks here from our old band, Late Night Radio.
Our new project is "Some People", an album recorded on the fly (& our iPhones). A fun collection of originals.
